Suffer from Kidney Stones?

Well, we hope not, because kidney stones can be over-the-top painful. But instead of jumping through the roof from agony, jump into a car and head to the Kidney Stone Center of Charleston at Roper Hospital, where board certified urologists use the latest technology to treat the stone, relieve your pain and help make sure you don’t suffer in the future.

What is a kidney stone anyway? Kidney stones develop when high levels of salt and other minerals in the urine congeal and stick together. Some stones are miniscule—the size of a tiny grain of sand—and others can grow into the size of a small pebble, and generally, the larger they become the more blockage they can cause, and thus the more painful and symptomatic they are.

Symptoms of a kidney stone can include the following:

  • severe pain on either side of your lower back
  • more vague pain or stomachache that doesn’t go away
  • nausea or vomiting
  • blood in the urine
  • fever and chills
  • vomiting
  • urine that smells bad or looks cloudy

The Kidney Stone Center of Charleston welcomes walk-in patients, or you can make an appointment. Either way, you’ll find the relief you need, and help identifying the cause of your kidney stone disease and tips for managing it to prevent future painful attacks.
